All Are Welcome

An Update from Rev'd Shannon:

March 27th, 2020 – Message from Rev’d Shannon

It has now been two weeks since Bishop Sean Rowe decided to suspend in person worship for the safety of all our members, and our associates, who use this campus. Initially, the order was to close our buildings for three weeks. But as events continue to change, almost minute to minute, the suspension will remain in effect “until further notice.”

This is an unprecedented time in our history and the history of the Church. As Christians we are called to worship together, to assist one another, and to offer comfort to those in need. The Covid-19 virus has caused us to find new and different ways to accomplish these same goals. Interestingly, in our efforts to be good Christians and good neighbors, Jesus often calls us out of our comfort zone. Wow! Do you hear him calling now?!

It is amazing to me to see the ways in which we are all working to answer that call. All over the country on-line gatherings for worship are being held, people are helping people in many ways: by shopping for those who can’t, by sewing medical masks, by calling those who are alone, by doing whatever they can—right where they are! Not the least of these things is prayer.

Let us pray for the doctors, nurses, pharmacists, EMTs, and all those working to help the sick. Let us pray for the researchers, biologist and geneticists, that are racing to find a treatment and a vaccine. Let us pray for the veterinarians who are staying open to care for our furry family members. Let us pray for the clerks, waiters, cooks and all those who are working so hard to deliver our needs curbside. Let us pray for those who are keeping our supply chains up and running: postal workers, drivers, delivery personnel, and warehouse workers. And let us never ever forget to pray for those sanitation workers who dispose and treat our potentially infected waste. We who are ordered to stay at home are the lucky ones; pray also for those who are at home because they have lost their jobs. Pray.

Our on-line service of Morning Prayer will continue until we can meet again in person. We will meet using Zoom every Sunday at 9:00 a.m.  Bishop Sean Rowe will hold service following ours at 10:00 a.m. If you do not have access and would like to join us, please email me at vicarshannon1@gmail.com and our IT wizard will “hook you up.”

As a reminder, mark your calendars for April 5th, The Sunday of the Passion/Palm Sunday, for on-line worship at 9 and 10 O’clock. Hope to see you then.

May God bless you,

Shannon+
